Somethings Are Just In Your Blood

.
Life just fly's by and we just wonder were it went and from time to time it's good to look back. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts Of America. I'm proud to say that I've been  a scout when I was a young and leader in years gone by. I hope that as you read this you'll take some notes about scouting. It's not all just about camping and tying knots.

I didn't join the boy scouts to be a Eagle Scout in fact I didn't know what a Eagle Scout rank was. Did I join for scouts for fun? Yes! Did I join because
my friends joined? Yes!  Did I expect to have to memorize the Boy Scout Oath and Boy Scout Law. No ! Yet that is exactly what I did. My parents didn't push me to be a scout but they supported me in my scouting experience. All you look at from a boys point of view at least mine was fun. After all these years the things I remember most were the leaders that made all that possible. What a great group of adults who shared there time, knowledge, skills, money and just so much more. Mr Carl Phaff was my first scout master and to tell you the truth I don't remember to much about him. I do remember he only had one child Judy his daughter. There he was a busy business man with only a daughter leading a group of boys Mr. Tom Kick was my second Scout Master and unlike Mr. Phaff he had two boys and a daughter. They gave up so much for a group of boys that weren't there own. I remember my dad telling the Scout Master to treat me like I was his own. That meant in discipline too. I never forgot that.

What they really taught me was the real meaning behind the Boy Scout Oath and the Scout Law. The values of the Scout Oath and Law a long with my religious up bringing are the foundation  in my life. We had our fun and we learned a lot of skills that have been very useful for the rest of our life. Even though sleeping on the ground isn't much for me anymore. Scouts is something that's in your blood for life. It's a experience all boys and girls should have a chance to have. Those adults who guided me through that time in my life. I'll forever be grateful for them.
